Pure Drivetrain Solutions, led by Chris Miller, and Boninfante Friction, led by Rob Boninfante, have joined forces to create a new company called Standard Drivetrain. The company will be led by industry veteran Michael Cargill, who will serve as CEO.

"High performance requires high performers," said Boninfante. "When Chris and I started talking about combining our businesses, there was only one name that we considered to lead the team."

Cargill brings decades of experience in the automotive aftermarket to the table, most recently as category manager for Schaeffler Automotive, where he focused on introducing torque converters into Schaeffler's broad aftermarket product line. Prior, Cargill was a product manager at Transtar Industries. In addition, Cargill recently fulfilled two terms as president of the Board of Directors of the Torque Converter Rebuilders Association.

Standard Drivetrain is associated with the following brands: Jase Composites, Pure Drivetrain Solutions, CMR (Chris Miller Racing) Productions, Sterling Auto Group, Boninfante Friction, ProTorque, BMF Engineering and Kenny's Diesel & Pullin'.

NASCAR has announced the 2024 schedules, start times and networks for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.

The Cup Series will head to Iowa Speedway, the 7/8-mile short track in Newton, Iowa, for the first time on Sunday, June 16, 2024. The track has previously hosted the Xfinity Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series from 2009 to 2019.

"NASCAR is committed to delivering an annual schedule that continues to be bold and dynamic across all three national series while maintaining the famed destinations that our fans love," said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Development and Strategy.

The 2024 Cup Series season will commence with the already announced third installment of the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, February 4, on FOX and FOX Deportes at 8 p.m. ET. For the first time in Cup Series history, a NASCAR Mexico Series race will precede the main event on Sunday afternoon, featuring the most talented drivers from Mexico's premier motorsports series.

The running of the 66th annual DAYTONA 500 at Daytona International Speedway again marks the start of the Cup Series regular season on Sunday, February 18.

Additional highlights to the NASCAR Cup Series schedule include:

  • Both 2024 races at Richmond Raceway will now take place in prime time--the first on Easter Sunday, March 31 (7 p.m. ET, FOX) and also on Sunday, August 11 (6 p.m. ET, USA Network).

  • NASCAR's annual All-Star Race (Sunday, May 19, 8 p.m. ET, FS1) will return to historic North Wilkesboro Speedway. Kyle Larson took home the $1 million prize this season in NASCAR's return to the venue for the first time since 1996.
  • Round two in the streets of Chicago on Sunday, July 7 (4:30 p.m. ET, NBC), which saw Shane van Gisbergen take the checkered flag in an action-packed 2023 event.
  • NASCAR will return to the traditional oval at The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 21 (2:30 p.m. ET, NBC) after a three-year stint running the road course.
  • The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs will begin one week later in 2024, with the regular season finale taking place at Darlington Raceway (Sunday, Sept. 1, 6 p.m. ET, USA Network) and Daytona International Speedway hosting the penultimate race of the regular season (Saturday, August 24, 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
  • The opening race of the NASCAR Playoffs will be at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 8 (3 p.m. ET, USA Network) with the crowning of a champion in the desert at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, November 10 (3 p.m., NBC).
  • Watkins Glen International (Sunday, Sept. 15, 3 p.m. ET, USA Network) will also join the NASCAR Playoffs mix and help set the tone in a new-look Round of 16.

FR Americas (Formula Regional Americas Championship) powered by Honda logo

Officials have announced the 2024 schedules for the Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) and the newly-rebranded Ligier JS F4 Series.

With new races at marquee tracks, an international event, scholarship opportunities and the debut of a new chassis in F4 U.S., the season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet. The 2024 schedule will feature eight different venues across the three series, with FR Americas competing at seven tracks, F4 U.S. at six and the Ligier JS F4 Series (previously known as SpeedTour Formula Development) on five circuits.

"2024 is going to be another year of growth for FR Americas, F4 U.S. and the Ligier JS F4 Series," said Race Director Scott Goodyear. "FR Americas drivers will have the opportunity to race at some of the same venues as their F1 racing heroes with the addition of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on the 2024 schedule. On the F4 U.S. side, we'll be debuting the second-generation Ligier F4 car with Ligier Storm power. With the debut of that car, the Ligier JS F4 Series will become more than just a developmental series; utilizing the first generation F4 car, it will offer an alternative series with a lower price point. Each series delivers great value compared to other series in North America, offering impressive wheel-to-wheel competition and a superb training ground for young drivers."

NASCAR All-Star Race to Return to North Wilkesboro in 2024

North Wilkesboro Speedway will return to the Cup Series schedule next season, reprising its role as the host of the annual NASCAR All-Star Race in 2024.

NASCAR and Speedway Motorsports set a May 19 date for the non-points invitational. In addition, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will race the day prior on May 18 at North Wilkesboro, and the NASCAR Pit Crew Challenge will take place there on May 17. Complete schedules for on-track competition, broadcast information and the All-Star Race format will be announced at a later date.

The 0.625-mile North Wilkesboro oval returned to the NASCAR calendar earlier this year, marking its first on-track action for NASCAR national-series competition since 1996. Speedway Motorsports revived the dormant facility, aided by funds from the North Carolina state budget and the diligent grassroots efforts of the community in Wilkes County and its surroundings.

North Wilkesboro Speedway became the fifth track to host the All-Star Race. Charlotte Motor Speedway has been the longest-running All-Star host, putting on its 1985 debut and then staging the event each year from 1987-2019. Other tracks to host the All-Star Race include Atlanta Motor Speedway (1986), Bristol Motor Speedway (2020) and Texas Motor Speedway (2021-22).

Spire Bolsters Truck Series Operations, Purchases Kyle Busch Motorsports

Submitted by laurap on Thu, 09/28/2023 - 18:47

Kyle Busch has announced that he has sold Kyle Busch Motorsports and Rowdy Manufacturing to Spire Motorsports, shifting the team ownership spectrum in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Included in the sale are the assets of Busch's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team and the assets of Rowdy Manufacturing's chassis building operation and CNC machine shop. The transaction also includes the 77,000-square-foot facility that houses KBM and Rowdy Manufacturing in Mooresville, North Carolina.

The arrangement signals the end of a 14-year tenure for one of the Craftsman Truck tour's most decorated teams. The Kyle Busch-owned organization scored its 100th Truck Series win earlier this season and fielded trucks for two series champions, both of whom have since joined their former team owner in the Cup Series--Erik Jones, the 2015 champ, and Christopher Bell, who reigned in 2017.

"When we started the Truck Series team back in 2010, I never imagined that we would be able to win 100 races with 18 different drivers and that one day I'd be racing in the Cup Series alongside so many of the drivers that I once mentored at KBM," Busch said in a team press release.
