2025 PRI Show Featured Products Showcase

KJ Jones, senior editor of HOT ROD, has shared his thoughts following the most recent PRI Show, December 11-13, in downtown Indianapolis. Read his HOT ROD article, published partially below and seen in full here.

The following is written by Jones for HOT ROD:

The Performance Racing Industry Show is the one place where the entire motorsports world piles into the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium and tries to outdo itself. Race teams, engine builders, fabricators, tuners, parts manufacturers, machine shops, and hardcore enthusiasts show up with their latest ideas and the hardware to back them up. PRI is not about shiny paint or car-show vibes.

The show's primary focus is on engineering, repeatability, and solving the problems that slow cars down or keep them from finishing races, as well as promoting networking and business throughout the various segments of motorsports.

One of the event's most important areas is the Featured Products Showcase. Like the New Products Showcase at SEMA, it's the first stop that HOT ROD senior editor KJ Jones makes every year. The parts in that display give a clear look at where the industry is going. Several of the standouts in this story were first spotted there. The Featured Products Showcase provides an up-close look at the innovation, problem-solving, and creativity that drive racing forward.

Race-only parts. Street-performance parts. Tools. Machinery. Data systems. Cooling. Drivetrain. Electronics. Everything tied to making power and getting down or around the track is on display at PRI. At the end of the day, you could spend three days in Indy and still miss something important, which is why these 25 pieces really matter.

Some of this hardware is already on the market. Some will drop by 2026. All of it represents where motorsports is going. If there's one takeaway from PRI 2025, it's that the racers, builders, tuners, and engineers behind this industry are not backing off. The next wave of performance is already here.

IHRA Acquires Heartland Motorsports Park

Submitted by ajh on Wed, 12/31/2025 - 13:52

The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has acquired Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas.

The facility opened in 1963 as Topeka Dragway and later became Heartland Motorsports Park. Over the years, it has hosted national drag racing events as well as road racing, karting, motocross and grassroots competitions, becoming a long-standing motorsports venue in the Midwest.

According to IHRA Owner Darryl Cuttell, the organization plans to restore and redevelop the property while respecting its history.

"Heartland Motorsports Park is one of those places that simply matters to racing," said Cuttell. "It has history, soul, and a footprint that allows us to think bigger than just a racetrack. Our goal is to restore this facility with respect for its legacy while building something that serves racers, fans, and the community for generations."

IHRA's plans include revitalizing drag racing operations, expanding motorsports and special event programming, adding live music and festival events, improving hospitality and fan areas, and hosting community-focused events. Renovation planning will begin immediately, with further details on redevelopment and future events expected in the coming months.

The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has completed the acquisition of the motorsports facility in Millington, Tennessee, formerly known as Memphis International Raceway and Memphis Motorsports Park.

The facility has previously hosted major drag racing events and national touring series. Under IHRA ownership, the track will operate as a multi-use destination supporting drag racing, stock car competition, grassroots motorsports, and other large-scale community and regional events, the Fairfield, Ohio-based sanctioning body said.

“This is a special place in American motorsports,” said Darryl Cuttell, CEO of IHRA. “This facility has a deep history in drag racing and stock car competition, and our goal is to honor that legacy while building a strong, sustainable future. We are committed to bringing meaningful racing back to this property while expanding its role as a destination for a wide range of events that serve racers, fans, and the surrounding community.”

“This acquisition represents more than reopening a racetrack,” said Leah Martin, president of IHRA. “It is about restoring opportunity for racers, families, and the community. This facility aligns with IHRA’s racer-first vision and our commitment to grassroots motorsports, while also allowing the property to support diverse uses that strengthen its year-round impact.”

IHRA plans to begin facility improvements and operational preparations in the coming days. Additional announcements regarding schedules, programming, and revitalization efforts will be released in the near future, with updates shared through IHRA’s social media platforms.

Here's Your 2025 PRI and SEMA Advocacy Wrap-Up

Submitted by ajh on Tue, 12/30/2025 - 09:39
SEMA PRI Advocacy Wrap Up

At the start of the year, PRI and SEMA mapped their advocacy agenda for 2025, and our advocates showed up in force as we elevated to heights previously unseen by the motorsports industry.

Here's your 2026 PRI/SEMA advocacy wrap-up:

  • More than 125,000 letters to Congress.
  • More than 3,000,000 voters reached.
  • Two pro-race track victories (North Carolina and Iowa).
  • Two anti-race track bills defeated (Arkansas and Oregon).
  • 330,000 jobs protected from EV mandates.
  • Biggest-ever increase of SEMA & PRI PAC Red Line Keyholder donors.

Protecting the Right to Race

PRI and SEMA took the checkered flag in a handful of efforts to protect race tracks nationwide. PRI halted legislation in Oregon and Arkansas that would have shut down important local tracks, and in North Carolina and Iowa, helped establish new protections that will enable race tracks to stay open and fight back against nuisance complaints. PRI and SEMA also laid the groundwork for forthcoming action to secure a more sustainable economic landscape for race tracks across the nation via the bipartisan Motorsports Fairness and Permanency Act (H.R. 2231/ S. 2462).

Preserving Vehicle Choice

PRI and SEMA were at the White House when President Trump signed into law a Congressional Review Act resolution that revoked California's a 2024 waiver that allowed the state to ban the sale of new internal-combustion-engine vehicles, not only in California but in 12 other states. SEMA's successful campaign even won international accolades, with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) presenting SEMA with its first President's Award for Excellence in Communication for our unyielding efforts to mobilize the automotive community against EV mandates.

Ensuring Your Right to Modify

In a watershed moment for American car culture, PRI and SEMA secured the introduction of the "ADAS Functionality & Integrity Act" (H.R. 6688) in the U.S. House of Representatives, marking the first time that Congress has introduced legislation to protect vehicle owners' right to modify. If passed, this bipartisan bill would ensure that aftermarket businesses have the information needed to properly calibrate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) after vehicles are modified, which is critical to being able to safely modify new vehicles, including common modifications like installing bike racks, wrapping a vehicle, installing larger wheels and tires or installing a winch, bull bar or an aftermarket bumper.

Maintaining Access to Public Lands

PRI and SEMA kicked off 2025 with a win for the off-road community, as President Biden signed into law the Expanding Public Lands Outdoor Recreation Experiences Act (EXPLORE Act), which improves the permitting process for motorized recreation events on federal lands. And the California Supreme Court ruled to uphold a PRI- and SEMA-supported effort to preserve motorized access to Oceano Dunes, the only place in California where off-road enthusiasts can drive and camp on the beach for off-roading, camping and exploring.

Telling Your Story About Tariffs

PRI and SEMA have used their platform to share with the Trump Administration and lawmakers how tariffs are impacting your business. PRI and SEMA met with the Department of Commerce to discuss survey data collected from our member businesses on tariff impacts and continues to communicate how the automotive aftermarket is impacted by these policies.

Helping Small Businesses Thrive

PRI and SEMA helped secure passage of the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which provides tax certainty to American small businesses and will help the aftermarket thrive.  The law includes several key provisions that benefit PRI and SEMA member companies, including reduced tax rates for individuals and pass-through businesses, the 199a deduction made permanent, Section 179 expensing cap increased, full expensing for research and development and capital investments, expanded business interest deductions and 100% immediate deductibility of certain investments in new factories and improvements.

Defense of Classic Vehicles and Collector Rights

PRI and SEMA made significant gains in the fight to modernize California's smog-check laws to help collectors of classic vehicles. This effort, dubbed Leno's Law, earned bipartisan support and represents the most significant progress we've made in California on this sort of bill in decades.

Protection of Small Businesses from Regulatory Overreach

PRI and SEMA backed a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposal to overturn the 2009 "endangerment" finding on greenhouse gases and repeal the greenhouse gas standards for light- and medium-duty motor vehicles. Our improved relationship with the EPA was never more evident than when EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin visited with SEMA and PRI leaders at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
