Family Events, a division of Bonnier Corporation which puts on the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals, has announced a partnership with the Terracross Championship, a UTV competition featuring extreme action and celebrity athletes.

The multi-year agreement places the Terracross Championship as one of the main attractions during the 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals, which is enjoyed annually by more than 150,000 enthusiasts, according to Family Events.

CBS Sports Network will also continue to televise the Terracross Championship, providing sponsors and other stakeholders a stable and far-reaching marketing platform.

IMSA Prototype Challenge To Feature Endurance Racing Format In 2018

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 08/24/2017 - 09:13
The IMSA Prototype Challenge Presented by Mazda officials recently announced the 2018 schedule will adopt an endurance-racing format for the six-race season.

The IMSA Prototype Challenge will shift from its longtime “sprint race” format of two 45-minute races per event to a single 1-hour, 45-minute endurance race per weekend for both classes starting next season. Teams will have the option of using single- or two-driver lineups for each race.

No driver may compete in more than one race car per weekend. The qualifying driver must start the race on the tires used in qualifying, and each competing driver will be required to meet a 40-minute minimum drive time.

Each pit stop also will have a minimum time requirement, as team personnel and pit lane equipment will be limited.

As is currently the case in the IMSA Prototype Challenge, LMP3 and MPC class winners and podium finishers each will be recognized individually.

The six-race 2018 season begins the weekend of Jan. 5–7 on the revered 3.56-mile Daytona International Speedway road circuit as part of the annual Roar Before the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

SCCA Unveils New Mobile App For Drivers, Fans

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Wed, 08/23/2017 - 09:05
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has unveiled a new, free Tire Rack National Solo mobile app for smartphones just in time for the 2017 Tire Rack Solo National Championship (Sept. 4–8). The app, available for Apple and Android devices, replaces the text notification system utilized the last few years.

The primary purpose of this simple mobile app is to provide push notifications. Competitors will receive information on the status of heats so drivers know when cars should be on Grid, or when participants should check in for work assignments. Updates will also be provided about groups that do not have enough competitors to make a class and keep people abreast of impending weather.

Along with push notifications, the app contains links to live scoring, the event schedule and Run/Work order.

The app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store or Android Google Play Store by searching  for “SCCA National Solo.” Once downloaded, be sure to turn on the notification functionality.

For those without an Android or Apple device, announcements will still be made over public address systems on each course.

For more information, visit the SCCA website.

“Big Daddy” Don Garlits, the 17-time NHRA World Champion, introduced the world’s only Dodge Challenger HellScat to automobile enthusiasts this past weekend at the Mopar Nationals in Hebron, Ohio. The 1000-plus horsepower HellScat, a play on the words “Hellcat” and “Scat Pack,” is a salute the legacy of Dodge’s 1960s/1970s Scat Pack club.

Garlits teamed up with Dream Giveaway Garage on behalf of New Beginning Children’s Homes to give away the world’s only HellScat and a matching, factory Hemi 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T away in the “2017 Challenger Dream Giveaway brought to you by Reliable Carriers” national sweepstakes.

The HellScat, a tire-scorching muscle car based upon Dodge’s 707hp production Hellcat, features a 4.5L supercharger, nearly double the capacity of the factory unit, a heavy-duty driveshaft, custom engine tuning, and street-legal, drag radial tires.

Visually, the HellScat is differentiated from the production Dodge Challenger Hellcat by unique exterior callouts and graphics, including a modern twist on Dodge’s classic bumblebee stripe, bold front-grille and rear fascia HellScat emblems, body-colored wheel barrels, and custom seat embroidery.

The national sweepstakes will run through June 26, 2018. The winner will be flown to Clearwater, Florida, to accept the grand-prize in a ceremony scheduled for July 27, 2018.
