Road America has promoted Michael Kertscher to the position of president and general manager. Kertscher will replace current President and General Manager George Bruggenthies, who will transition into a senior consulting position for Elkhart Lake's Road America, Inc.

"I am honored and humbled to accept this new role and build upon the momentum this exceptional group of people has established," Kertscher said.

Kertscher, who joined Road America in 2007, began as a programs manager overseeing the development of its group adventure programs, plus many successful motorcycle and driving school programs. Kertscher was promoted to director of business development in 2014 and vice president of business development in 2017, where he took on added responsibility by overseeing track rentals and hospitality functions while driving partnership development to support Road America's core event management initiatives.

Kertscher later moved into a senior vice president role in 2018 overseeing all operations of the facility under the guidance and direction of Bruggenthies as part of the overall transition process.

ARCA Announces Overtime Procedure Changes

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 01/22/2019 - 10:56
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has announced a change to its end-of-race overtime procedures at its two biggest speedways, Daytona Int’l Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Previously, ARCA allowed unlimited attempts at a two-lap green-white-checkered finish if the white flag had not been displayed, and unlimited green and white together attempts if the white flag had been displayed and the caution flag was necessary prior to the checkered.

In 2019, ARCA will move to one attempt at a one-lap green and white together finish at Daytona and Talladega. Overtime procedures at the other 18 races on the schedule remain unchanged from the previous unlimited attempts procedures.

“We feel it’s more fair to the teams and to the fans to finish the race closer to the advertised distance,” ARCA Senior Director of Competition Grayling Call said. “Teams work on their fuel strategy throughout these races and when you have several overtime finish attempts it throws that strategy off for everyone. You could have cars running out of fuel on a restart that causes another crash.”

The 2019 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season starts with the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 9. For more information, visit the ARCA Racing website.
