IndyCar To Remove LED Panels For 2019

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 08/22/2019 - 10:26

Officials from the NTT IndyCar Series have decided to remove the roll hoop-mounted LED information panels on the Dallara DW12s for the remainder of the 2019 season. The move comes after the series used two vendors and three different versions of the panels since 2015, according to published reports.

Some panels failed to work on a number of cars, calling for officials to request that all teams remove the LEDs for last weekend’s ABC Supply 500 in Pocono. Teams instead displayed larger numbers in the area.

The next-generation Dallara chassis, which is expected in 2022, will feature a fully integrated LED information panel design.

Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour To Postpone Rule Changes Following Feedback

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Thu, 08/22/2019 - 09:26
The Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour will delay implementation of proposed changes to the sporting regulations for the 2020 race, announced last week.

Following extensive consultation with entrants and taking into account fan feedback, event organizers will instead review the rulebook following the completion of the 2020 race to identify any necessary changes.

Announced changes to the sporting regulations surrounding mandatory pit stop times, stint length, “joker” pit stops and technical pit stops will be put on hold for the 2020 race.

While designed to bring the event regulations in line with other events on the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli calendar, broad feedback indicated the changes would not greatly enhance the on-track product given the unique nature of long-distance racing at Mount Panorama.

Other changes, including the addition of the Silver Cup for amateur drivers, the introduction of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo car into Class B and the inclusion of driver cooling and in-car camera systems to each vehicle’s Balance of Performance Weight will remain in place for next year.

RVB Transport will award a $25,000 bonus to any driver that can win all three features during the 2020 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series season opener at Vado Speedway Park on January 2-5.

NASCAR announced several updates for the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series seasons along with dates and tracks for the 2020 Dash 4 Cash and Triple Truck Challenge events.

As one of the biggest changes, the NASCAR Xfinity Series field will be reduced from 38 to 36 cars. The first 31 spots will be based on qualifying times, with four provisional positions set according to the rulebook and the last slot reserved for past series champions.

Additionally, drivers in both the Xfinity and Gander Outdoors Truck Series with more than three years of full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series experience will be limited to a maximum of five starts in either the Xfinity Series and Gander Truck Series.

Regarding special events, drivers earning Monster Energy Series championship points are not eligible to compete in either the lower series' regular-season finale, playoffs race, the Xfinity Series’ Dash 4 Cash or the Gander Truck Series’ Triple Truck Challenge.

Similarly, Xfinity Series regulars may not participate in the Gander Outdoors Truck Series’ annual Triple Truck Challenge or the championship race at ISM Raceway.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash 2020 races are set for Homestead-Miami Speedway (Qualifier on March 21); Texas Motor Speedway (March 28); Bristol Motor Speedway (April 4); Talladega Superspeedway (April 25) and Dover International Speedway (May 2).
