German carmaker Opel and the ADAC, the German automobile association, will debut the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup, the first rally brand cup for electric cars in the world in 2020.
The all-electric class will feature rally competition vehicles based on the Opel Corsa-e, which makes its debut at the IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show, September 12-22. The new car produces 136 horsepower and develops nearly 200 ft. lbs. of torque from a standstill.
ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup now replaces the flagship junior series of the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup, the German-based rally series that began in 2013.
The series, which will initially take place during rounds of the German Rally Championship and other select events, is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2020.
