Wild Horse Pass Adds Three Motorsports Veterans

Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona, has announced the addition of three motorsports professionals to its team.

NASCAR marketing veteran Jon Sands, formerly of Roush Fenway Racing, was recently elevated from consultant to general manager and has added drag racing publicist Jeff Wolf, a professional journalist for more than three decades, to his staff as the business development and communications manager.

Another new member of the team is Ron Conner, who is the new Wild Horse track operations manager and race director. Conner was a member of the NHRA Safety Safari team for 26 years before becoming race director at Heartland Park Topeka motorsports facility in Kansas, and opening the Onawa Racing and Events Complex earlier this year in Iowa.

Sands, who has consulted for the track since 2015, worked with Wolf at the facility from 1989 to 1993 when it was Firebird Int’l Raceway. Sands left to hold executive positions in NASCAR with Team Sabco and the Cohn & Wolfe agency before joining Roush Fenway and Roush Yates Engines organizations.

Wolf recently moved to Chandler, Arizona, from his home outside of Indianapolis where he worked for six years as the media relations manager for Don Schumacher Racing in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

Another recent addition to the management team is Luis Lopez as the facility operations manager. After serving six years in the U.S. Navy, Lopez graduated from West Los Angeles College with a degree in electrical engineering. He joined the Motorsports Park in July after retiring from Macy’s as a four-state regional operations engineering manager.
