A group of Coker Group executives led by President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Wade Kawasaki has partnered with Irving Place Capital to acquire the supplier of collector car and motorcycle tires and wheels.

The purchase includes several brands including Coker Tire Co. Inc., Wheel Vintiques, Universal Vintage Tire, Phoenix Race Tires, Specialty Wheel and Roadster Wire Wheel.

There will be no changes to the Coker Group leadership team and staff.

Corky Coker, the son of the company founder Harold Coker, led Coker Group for 40 years until his retirement in 2014. He will retain ownership of the Honest Charley Speed Shop and Chestnut Properties, which he manages with his children.

Kawasaki has worked as the Coker Group president and COO since 2014.

"We intend to accelerate growth with our partners at Irving Place Capital as we expand into newer models and markets while continuing to serve the traditional restoration market that has been our home for six decades,” Kawasaki said.

"Coker Group will continue to provide our customers with the same best-in-class products, great customer service that they know to expect and we look forward to creating more jobs, offering more products and continuing the Coker Group legacy together."

Irving Place Capital also owns Dynojet Research, the high-performance vehicle aftermarket supplier.
