HPD Extends Engine Supplier Agreement For F4, FR Americas Series

Honda Performance Development (HPD) has extended an agreement to continue to be the sole engine supplier for the FIA Formula Regional Americas (FRA) and U.S. F4 Championship series through 2023.

The FRA Championship and F4 US Championship, which offers developing drivers the opportunity to race on an international platform, are powered by HPD-modified versions of the current Honda Civic Type R engine. FRA cars run a turbocharged 303 hp edition, while the F4 series uses a normally aspirated 160 bhp engine.

Both series have recently kicked off their 2020 seasons, with each scheduled to host at least five more events this year. Both will conclude at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, as support events to the Formula One U.S. Grand Prix race weekend on October 23-25.

In related news, Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) announced it will take ownership of the commercial promotion for both open wheel series. SCCA Pro Racing will oversee the duties through the end of the season.
