The FIA has named a new race director for the FIA Formula One World Championship Australian Grand Prix following the passing of Charlie Whiting.

Michael Masi will take over Whiting’s duties as race director, safety delegate and permanent starter for the Australian event.

Officials have not yet confirmed whether Masi will continue in this role after the Australian GP. Whiting had held the position of race director since 1997.
