For the 2017 season, the CARS Touring Series will keep track of engine builder points with the Engine Builder of the Year awards. Sponsored by CV Products, the program will award points to builders based on the top five finishing positions in each race. Each engine builder was required before the season began to declare a division, either LMSC or SLM, for the tracking of points.
Engine builders from both groups will get six points for 1st, four points for 2nd, three points for 3rd, two points for 4th, and one point for 5th place based on where drivers running its engines finish in each race.
