University Of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH)

Location: Lima, Ohio

THERE’S ONLY ONE PLACE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD!

The adrenaline was pumping at the University Of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH), known as one of the worldwide leaders in the automotive, diesel, and high-performance industries—and with good reason. The 200-acre campus in Lima, Ohio, is where students get hands-on technical motorsports training and on-track experiences in a university setting.

Trey Becker, UNOH Director of Business Development; Paul Higgins, High-Performance Division Head/Associate Dean; and Brandon Vaughan, UNOH Engine Machining Instructor, told PRI how students do everything to maintain, build, fix, and drive the race cars—“the only thing they don’t do is haul them!” Students Jamie Sullivan, Parker Landolt, and Alejandro Ibarra reveal their unique experiences, while Jackson Orr shows off his on-track skills in his drift car (you don’t wanna miss his sliding action in the video!). “There’s only one place like this on Earth, and it’s in Ohio,” Orr said.

Internships and hands-on experience for students run the gamut of motorsports categories like NASCAR/ARCA Series, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, and even Pro Pulling. As a result, graduates have “limitless” possibilities of going anywhere they want: NHRA, NASCAR, IndyCar, you name it! “If you’re serious about a career in the racing industry, this is the place to do it,” Landolt said.
