Performance Engine Bearings: Fundamentals & Design
This session will provide a deep-dive into the design and fundamentals of performance engine bearings. In it, we will define overlays, substrates, oil flow, bearing crush, and geometry. We will explore the effect of bearing selection on overall engine performance and reliability. We’ll answer questions like, “How do race-specific components—RPM limiters, superchargers, nitrous oxide, turbos, etc.—affect bearing choices?" And, we’ll cover best practices related to the use and maintenance of these products. Time will be set aside, too, for a live Q&A with the audience.

Air Speed In ICE & Bending The Rules For More Power
Legendary engine builder Darin Morgan and Preston Mosher, BES Racing Engines’ cylinder head department manager, will provide an overview of various combinations built by BES based on 50- to 60-year-old engine architecture utilizing modern cylinder head, induction system, and valvetrain technology to produce ever-higher power levels. It’s an exercise in compromise, as this session explores the rules governing induction system design and how these rules change as a result of less-than-adequate engine architecture or sanctioning body rule restrictions. We’ll also cover peak and average air speeds; pressure recovery dynamics; discharge coefficients; and intake tract harmonic tuning; among other subjects.

Update On RPM Act & Emissions Compliance
Presenting the latest updates and need-to-know information on the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2021 (RPM Act), also known as H.R. 3281. This common-sense, bipartisan legislation protects Americans' right to convert street vehicles into dedicated race cars, and the motorsports parts industry's ability to sell products that enable racers to compete. The bill clarifies that it is legal to make emissions-related changes to a street vehicle for the purpose of converting it into a race car used exclusively in competition. It also confirms that it is legal to produce, market and install racing equipment. The RPM Act reverses the EPA's interpretation that the Clean Air Act does not allow a motor vehicle designed for street use—including a car, truck, or motorcycle—to be converted into a dedicated race car.

Why Your Performance Business DOES Need A Website
The world events over the last 18 months have had arguably the most profound influence on behavioral change than any other similar-length period in our lifetime. The majority of decisions we make, from the large, potentially life-changing, to the most subtle, subconscious choices, are now shaped by a new set of realities and experiences. And the most significant of those changes is the use of the web. Before the digital transformation of 2020, many businesses that didn’t sell products or services online felt no need for a web presence. And they were likely correct. But the world has changed, and so have the expectations of your prospective customers. In this session, you’ll learn why the traditional reasons you don’t need a web presence no longer apply, along with tips to craft that right web experience to capture prospective new customers and clients. You’ll learn about your different options for creating a web presence, and be armed with the information you need to really determine if now is the time to finally get started.

3D Computer Flow Analysis Simulation Of Performance Intake & Exhaust Port
Computer simulation tools like Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) are readily available now to simulate engine air-flow systems such as intake and exhaust ports. These simulations require good CAD models, which enable the creation of CFD models very early in the engineering process—before actual testing is possible. From this early analysis, flow capacity and efficiency, much like that which comes from flowbench testing, can be generated. However, other flow field metrics also can be assessed both visually and numerically for in-cylinder mixture motion, flow separation, air velocity, etc. to determine the best design solution to go forward to hardware. This analysis can also lead to further detailed transient pulsing flow and combustion modeling. This session will explore these concepts—and more—in gripping detail.

Small Businesses Don't Die, They Just Make Too Many Mistakes!
Reports from the US Census Bureau show that as companies have downsized, and individuals decide they want to own their own business, there are more and more new small businesses being started. Yet, some 95% will not be in business long enough to hold a 5th anniversary sale, and only half of those will celebrate their 10th anniversary. Businesses with many years of experience are not immune to this problem, either. In this session, you’ll see why small businesses don't die…they just make too many mistakes, and how your business can avoid becoming another unfortunate statistic.

Sponsorship 101: How To Write Proposals That Sell!
Let's start simple. There’s a difference between decks and proposals. Decks start relationships, while proposals turn them into partnerships. Rule #1: Don’t send a deck if a prospective sponsor asks for a proposal. While we’re at it, don’t ever send a proposal that has the word “exposure” in it. All of your assets have some type of value to most sponsors, but exposure is very low on the list. Give them things that increase revenue and they’ll continue to use you in their marketing. In this session you’ll learn how to write effective proposals that start with negotiation and end in sponsorship—and other useful advice from the man who literally wrote the book on motorsports marketing and sponsorship.
