IMCA RaceSaver Sprints Partner With POWRi

The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car division will expand to new areas of the country as part of a new partnership forged with Performance Open Wheel Racing, Inc. (POWRi).
POWRi is headquartered in St. Louis and sanctions open wheel divisions including midgets, micro sprints, 305 sprints and non-winged sprints.
POWRi’s owner Kenny Brown said the first new sanction with IMCA RaceSaver would be at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks Speedway, with additional track and series sanctions to be announced.
“We have had a number of people call and ask us about sanctioning more 305 Sprint Cars,” Brown said, familiar with and a proponent of the RaceSaver rules. “So we talked to IMCA and we talked to RaceSaver.
“There’s a lot we can learn from the RaceSaver rules,” he added. “They’re working good and the cars put on a good show.”
IMCA’s partnership with RaceSaver dates back to February of 2012. IMCA RaceSaver crowned 26 track and special series champions and 17 state champions this season.
“This new association will get IMCA RaceSaver racing into new areas of the country. That’s good for IMCA and it’s good for RaceSaver,” said Roger Hadan, owner of RaceSaver. “We’re very happy that another series is interested in becoming part of the growth of RaceSaver.”
In related news, POWRi announced the addition of the Border Tour Sprints. A newly-formed series, the POWRi Lucas Oil Border Tour Sprints presented by Griffin’s Propane will feature the non-wing 360 sprint cars in an eight-race series at the Vado Speedway Park in New Mexico.
Each race will feature a purse of $1,500 to win and $200 to start, with an overall points fund of $7,000 including a $1,500 check to the inaugural series champion.
Anticipated for a March 2019 unveiling, the Vado Speedway Park located in Vado, New Mexico is currently under construction, but will ultimately shape into a 3/8th-mile semi-banked clay oval.
