The Wharton Automotive Group has acquired Silver Sport Transmissions (SST). The Wharton Automotive Group, consisting of McLeod Racing and FTI Performance, is owned by NHRA Nitro Funny Car driver and businessman Paul Lee.

SST CEO Jack Silver will retire from his position.

“The employees of Silver Sport Transmissions have become my family, and the decision to retire was not easy, but after speaking with Paul Lee, I knew I was leaving the company in the best of hands,” Silver said.

SST, a TREMEC Elite Distributor, offers TREMEC 5- and 6-Speed kits. Its in-house engineering department develops and refines turnkey kits for various applications—from classic American muscle cars and trucks to four-wheel drives and late model imports.

The announcement follows Lee’s acquisition of FTI Performance in 2019

SST will continue to operate in Rockford, Tennessee. According to a company release, Lee plans to work closely with the entire SST staff to make a smooth transition. SST also intends to be represented at this year’s SEMA Show (Nov. 2–5) and PRI Show (Dec. 9–11).
