AVL RACETECH, the Austrian engineering service provider, and Penske Autosport DS Automobiles Formula E World Championship team, have expanded their partnership to develop an optimized energy management system.

The team previously partnered with AVL RACETECH to use its AVL VSM RACE simulation solution, which enables up to five driving simulators to be linked within a unified environment, allowing for a realistic reproduction of multi-vehicle interactions to develop race strategy processes.

The expanded partnership will see the team use AVL RACETECH systems to optimize its energy management system utilizing a virtual model of the current Formula E car and intelligent algorithms to analyze and optimize the available energy harvest and deployment.

According to the company, the simulation will help the team refine the optimal energy management strategy for real-world races.
