The Bureau of Land Management in Utah has shared the following announcement:

Each summer, the Bonneville Salt Flats host world-renowned racing events that are part of the area's long and celebrated history. During permitted racing and private events in 2026, the salt flats will be temporarily closed to general access to support event safety and resource protection.

2026 Dates

• June 25 – July 1 | Utah Salt Flats Racing Association – Test and Tune
• July 7 – July 13 | East Coast Timing Association – Bonneville Mile
• July 27 – August 8 | Southern California Timing Association – Speed Week
• August 9 – August 15 | Private Party – Exclusive Use
• August 20 – August 28 | Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials
• August 30 – September 8 | Utah Salt Flats Racing Association – World of Speed
• September 23 – September 29 | Southern California Timing Association – World Finals

During these permitted events, the salt flats are closed to public entry beyond designated areas.

Visitor Access Reminder

• Visitors may travel up to 100 feet onto the salt from the portal sign without paying the event's entrance fee.
• Do not attempt to bypass the entrance or drive around event gates.
• Unauthorized entry is considered trespassing and may result in enforcement action.
