The Gulf Coast Midget Championship, USAC’s newest racing series, has announced a six-race schedule at two Texas venues for the 2017 season. The two venues, 281 Speedway in Stephenville and the Superbowl Speedway in Greenville both have 1/4-mile dirt oval tracks.

An agreement was recently reached between Oregon’s Coos Bay Speedway owner/promoter Chuck Prather and Drake Nelson to turn full operation and ownership of the race track over to the Nelsons. Prather is said to retire following the agreement.

Onawa city officials in Iowa recently approved a plan to build a new racing and events complex, which will feature a 1/4-mile drag strip on a defunct airport runway just off I-29 in western Iowa. The proposed complex will be named the Onawa Racing and Events Complex.

The Monterey County (California) Board of Supervisors approved a three-year extension for day-to-day management of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca racing facility by Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP).

Along with the schedule, NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series officials announced the official merger between the series and the Súper Copa Telcel series. The merger forms the championship for stock car racing in Mexico, and ensures the participation of top drivers in the country.
