Formula 1 Mulls Change to Championship Points, Launches U.S. Streaming Channel

The Formula 1 Commission has discussed changes to its championship points allocation system during its second 2024 meeting, according to the series, with a proposal for changes slated to be presented to the Commission later this year.

The group, led by FIA Single-Seater Director Nikolas Tombazis and Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali, also discussed 2025 preseason testing dates and venues, as well as the introduction of rear-facing cameras.

Additionally, Formula 1 is launching a new, subscription-free streaming channel in the United States ahead of next month's Miami Grand Prix. 

Available on services including Samsung TV Plus, Amazon Freevee, and Pluto TV, Formula 1 Channel will show F1, F2, F3 and F1 Academy race replays and highlights along with full reruns of classic Grands Prix and racing documentaries.
