3rd Annual MOPAR PRI Sprint & Midget Classic Returns To World’s Largest Racing Trade Show In 2007

Laguna Beach, CA (June 29, 2007) – With standing-room only crowds attending last year’s big race night, the 3rd Annual MOPAR PRI Sprint & Midget Classic is preparing for another big event for this year at Orlando Speedworld, Friday night, Dec. 7, 2007. MOPAR returns as the title sponsor and Crane Cams has become the new sponsor of the big $50,000 bonus prize to the winner of both feature races.

The 3rd Annual MOPAR PRI Sprint & Midget Classic will run in conjunction with the 20th Annual PRI Trade Show, which will return to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Dec. 6-8, 2007. It is the world’s largest racing trade show.

“We are delighted to have MOPAR back for the third year in a row as our title sponsor. We also welcome the addition of Crane Cams as the sponsor of our $50,000 Bonus Prize,” said Steve Lewis, producer of both the PRI Trade Show and the Classic. “We also have expanded the total purse to $135,000, which is up $10,000 over last year.”

Last year, the MOPAR PRI Sprint & Midget Classic was televised nationally on ESPN2. All the great open wheel stars have already committed to return for this year’s race, including last year’s feature race winners Kody Swanson and Ron Gregory. The event will also include special invitational races for Legends Cars and Focus Midgets.

The huge $50,000 Bonus Prize is paid to a driver who wins both 40-lap feature races. The added, exciting challenge is that the winner of the first feature race – the Sprint race – will start in the last position in the Midget race, and must successfully pass all competitors to take the checker.

Associate Sponsors of this event are Cometic Gasket, Performance Friction, JE Pistons, Calico Coatings, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Fuel Safe, HANS Performance Products, Circle Racing Wheels and Magneti Marelli.

JE Pistons will sponsor the “Last to First Passing Award” offering up to $2,400 ($100 for every lap the winner of the Sprint Car race passes in the Midget feature). Delson Products will sponsor the Midget Fast Qualifier Award, offering $1,500, and Hazardous Fluids will sponsors the Sprint Car Fast Qualifier Award of $1,500. Klotz also will sponsor the Midget Lap Prize Award, totaling $2,000.

Grandstand seating was increased last year to accommodate additional fans, and more food choices again will be offered this year.

“Orlando Speedworld is close to the Convention Center, so we’ll continue to see a large percentage of show attendees in the stands. It’s the perfect place to mix business with pleasure at the PRI Trade Show,” Lewis explained, adding, “Over the past two years, we’ve built a pretty strong local fan base, and we anticipate having another sell-out show.”
