LAGUNA BEACH, CA (Oct. 25, 2007) - Rapidly becoming one of the biggest open wheel events on the racing season's calendar, the MOPAR-PRI Sprint & Midget Classic presented by DHL will run once again at Orlando SpeedWorld, a 3/8ths-mile, high-banked asphalt oval track, on Dec. 7, 2007. The race is part of the world's largest racing trade show, the PRI Trade Show, which takes place Dec. 6-8, 2007, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
In addition to the heat races and invitational races by Raceiver Legends and Focus Midgets, the climax of the evening will be the two 40-lap features for Sprint Cars and Midgets, with a huge Crane Cams $50,000 bonus prize going to a driver who wins both.
"This is heartland America racing at its best, and we're very excited that we have such great sponsors as MOPAR, Crane Cams and DHL, as well as our many associate sponsor companies participate in this great event," said Steve Lewis, organizer of the race and producer of the PRI Trade Show.
"We have more than $135,000 in prize money available to our racers, and we can expect a significant number of regular Sprint and Midget teams and drivers to compete, as well as some guest drivers who plan to be here," Lewis added. "For race fans, it's going to be a great evening. And for our show attendees, it's our intent to make this exciting night the perfect place to mix business with pleasure at the PRI Trade Show."
More than 130 race teams competed in last year's race, which saw 8,000 people packed into the grandstands. The race also was televised nationally on ESPN2.
