Mercedes has placed executive technical director Paddy Lowe on gardening leave ahead of him leaving the Formula 1 title-winning team. The team did not name a replacement for Lowe, and its technical structure will continue in its current form.

The first indoor event in the history of USAC’s IMRA and Midwest Thunder Midget divisions will be held at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, Ill., on Feb. 18, 2017. This event is the first of its kind at the SIC featuring five classes of cars on one racetrack in one day.

Carl Edwards is set to retire from NASCAR racing, effective immediately. An announcement is scheduled for Wednesday at Joe Gibbs Racing. Daniel Suarez will be the replacement driver to pilot the No. 19 Toyota in 2017.

Hot rodder and industry icon Pete Chapouris, co-founder of Pete & Jake’s Hot Rod Parts and most recently President of So-Cal Speed Shop, passed away on January 6 due to complications from a stroke. He leaves behind a legacy of hot rods that have spanned decades.
