Muncie Dragway is the latest track to sign a sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association. The move back to IHRA sanctioning for the first time since 2006 is a natural progression in promoting Sportsman racing, according to track officials.

Shayne Laws was named the new race director of Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia. Previously, Laws held the position of Langley's competition director. The 2017 racing schedule was also released.

The Ridgeway, Virginia facility debuted its new LED lights, the first major motorsports facility to do so. Martinsville Speedway also announced the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup dates at the track.

The Atlanta Motor Speedway asphalt is scheduled to get repaved. The track has not been repaved in 20 years since its reconfiguration from a true oval to the current quad-oval in 1997. Many drivers are said to be sad to see the old surface go.
