The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association announced that it will offer season-long nation-wide championships for both its short sprint races and its endurance contests, also known as "enduros." Until this year, the championship was confined solely to the eastern US region.

NHRA Nitro Funny Car driver, Paul Lee, is retiring from the sport of drag racing. Lee suffered a heart attack over the winter and will not be returning to the seat of his McLeod Racing/ Kalitta Motorsports Nitro Funny Car.

 A new driver will be announced at a later date.

The track recently released an update on the re-pavement process of the 1.5-mile Speedway. Improvements include a new drainage system and turn reconfigurations. IndyCar will visit the speedway April 12.

The 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross season begins the first of 12 races with a new event at Memphis International Raceway on April 28-29. The raceway will be transformed to include the Red Bull GRC course with the addition of dirt and the signature 70-foot jump.
