The premier series will be named the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2017 with the 59th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 26. This came along with a new brand identity and series mark.

The United States Auto Club (USAC) announced a new national championship series beginning in 2017, titled The Speedway Motors Lightning Sprint National Championship. Lightning sprints are an open wheel car with a motorcycle based power plant and wings.
