Here’s another note we’d like to share from our trip to Australia to visit with high-performance and racing companies as part of Australia Automotive Week. A US magazine journalist and myself were able to get some private time with Richard Dalla-Riva, who is currently Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations and Minister for Manufacturing, Exports and Trade for the state of Victoria.

It’s always great to meet with any government official who’s ready to support the performance racing industry, but it’s especially fun to meet with someone who’s done some wrenching in his time as Dalla-Riva has.

Opening night of racing season always brings nervous excitement. Opening night at the local track comes with every bit as much emotion as professional teams face preparing for Daytona. We set out to the track every weekend and the ultimate goal is to have fun – well, fun is the goal I continuously promote.

On our recent trip to meet with performance and racing companies in the state of Victoria, Australia, we were impressed with a new POP merchandising tool in the Penrite booth of the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association exhibit at the F1 race in Melbourne. Penrite had an iPad locked into a metal casing connected to metal shelving displaying its performance lubricants. The iPad was a dynamic, interactive way for Penrite to tell its story. The buyer could scroll up and down, and hit links, but never leave the Penrite site. We anticipate seeing more iPads being used this way.
