PRI 2017 Foyt Exhibit Details Released
By Dan Schechner on August 16, 2017

It’s been 40 years since AJ Foyt recorded his record-setting fourth Indianapolis 500 win, and Performance Racing Industry is honoring the occasion with a special display at the 2017 PRI Trade Show.

AJ Foyt: A Legendary Exhibition traces the icon’s rise from the dirt tracks of Texas to the apex of auto racing, and pays tribute to one of the most diverse and successful careers in motorsports history. Lest we forget, Foyt is still IndyCar’s most prolific driver, with 65 career victories, and he remains the only competitor ever to take top honors at the Indy 500, the Daytona 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In addition to rare memorabilia and photos from Foyt’s personal collection, PRI visitors will get to see the 1961 Bowes Seal Fast Special, 1964 Sheraton Thompson Special, 1967 Sheraton Thompson Special, and 1977 Gilmore Coyote that Foyt drove to 500 glory.

“We’re honored to have AJ Foyt: A Legendary Exhibition among the new events and exhibitions at the 30th Anniversary PRI Trade Show,” noted PRI General Manager Bill Miller. “It gives attendees a rare opportunity to see up-close some of the vehicles that Foyt raced in his legendary career.”

The display is being made possible through a generous partnership with Director and Curator Ellen Bireley and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, which is currently hosting the exhibit through October 31.

At PRI, it will be housed in meeting rooms 6000 and 6100 of the Indiana Convention Center, and will be accessible from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the Show, December 7, 8 and 9.
